Development engineer optics medical display systems

Deadline Unknown
Company Barco
Job description

You are part of the technology innovation team. You are responsible for the optical design of our medical display systems i.e. LCD displays, CCFL and LED backlights, and photometric and colorimetric sensors.

Designing new backlights that meet the high requirements (light output, uniformity and backlight thickness) is one of your challenges. You continuously look for
improving the optical quality of the displays e.g. by changing the optical stack (diffusers, polarizers, compensation foils, ) or adding optical elements such as
neutral density filters, AG/AR coatings, protective glass, You strive for a stable luminance and a consistent color. You prototype new algorithms and ideas by designing the appropriate software programs, mainly in a C++ windows environment.

You design, develop and verify your part of the design. The existing expertise in the company is a source of inspiration, but out of the box thinking is required for solving the complex visualization problems.

You closely follow evolutions in your field of expertise e.g. by contacts with LCD manufacturers. You work in a team and share experiences with co-developers.
State-of-the-art tools will be at your disposal.

Profile

You hold a Master (or engineering) degree in Physics, Mechanics or electronics with specialization in optics. Basic knowledge on LCDs or backlights is a plus. You have a strong interest in theoretical approaches, but can come to practical realizations, fit for production. You have some experience with using optical simulation software (Zemax or other).

You are a highly motivated professional seeking an innovative design challenge. You are an analytical self starter, able to work independently and as a team player.
English is your working language. A good C++ programming experience is a must.
