Job description

The Flanders Materials Centre (FLAMAC) was founded by three leading companies with important research and development activities in Flanders (Agfa, Umicore and Arcelor) together with Agoria Vlaanderen.

Flamac’s objective is to become a competence centre in "High Throughput Methodologies" to support research for the materials industry. This way, innovative research for new materials and formulations, their properties and applications will be accelerated and broadened. Flamac will develop and apply combinatorial experimentation methods and pragmatic modeling techniques to that purpose. It wants to offer a service in collaborative, multi-disciplinary research between industry, universities and research centers. PROJECT ENGINEER IN MATERIALS RESEARCH

Profile

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to conduct the coating research projects and to obtain appropriate external funding for new projects. Additionally, coordination and supervising lab technical coworkers, project planning, budget control, reporting to project owners, organizing seminars, lecturing at conferences, etc. will be part of your daily work. The project engineer will directly reports to the managing director.

Qualifications

You have a Ph.D. degree in Applied Chemistry, Materials Science or equivalent by experience. In addition you have directly related experience in coating research. Preferentially, you have experience in the synthesis of organic coatings, characterization of organic coatings via FT-IR, UV-Vis, ellipsometry, nanoindentation, … You have good communications skills, can fluently write and speak English and Dutch, or are willing to learn Dutch. Finally, you are interested in collaborative research projects and motivation to seek external funding.
