Sensing Applications
This workpackage relies on partners which excel in different aspects of sensing technology and micro-optics, including fibre sensors, micro-systems, material processing, device fabrication, packaging and measurement technology. These provide a solid base for long term high quality research and development.
This NEMO task force will first focus on finding exploitable transduction mechanisms that are compatible with micro-optic technology and which offer measurement possibilities that are not necessarily achievable using conventional electro-mechanical or electro-chemical transducers. Second, it will integrate the developed sensor components in proof-of-concept demonstrators, in concurrence with potential industrial users. Finally, it will endeavour to encourage industrial take-up of the developed technologies.
