Prototyping

In the virtual Service centre for Prototyping, Mastering and Replication 18 partners in NEMO combine their competences in technologies to fabricate micro-optical components and offer them to NEMO participants and IUC Members to fulfil their requests in getting new and innovative micro optical components. A bright variety of standard and non standard technologies are existing for prototyping and replication of DOEs, lens and lens arrays, multi mode and single mode waveguides as well as refractive micro optical elements and micro optical systems. In addition there are also techniques offered by the partners for new micro-structured-fibre fabrication and for thin layer deposition. Strong experience exists in moulding tool and shim fabrication by electroforming, mechanical machining and other technologies. By benchmarking activities, the technologies are compared to each other to identify both their possibilities and their present-day limits with the aim to offer the best suited technology to solve future problems. The technologies are continuously improved according to the needs defined by the internal and external requests. The virtual centre is already used inside NEMO for the fabrication of various micro optical elements and for multi-project micro-optics wafers. Industrial companies can get access to the technologies and the huge competences of the centre through the IUC. They can contract development work or small series fabrication to all partners of the centre. |
