Description

CSEM is a Swiss research institute working in microtechnology and optical microsystems. The Photonics Division in Zurich, Section Optical Microsystems currently has a group of 13 persons working on replicated micro-optics, optical micro-systems with diffractive optical elements, integrated optics and subwavelength optics. A well-equipped laboratory with a number of origination and replication technologies is available for this work. Optical microstructures are fabricated by high resolution lithography and holography. Waveguide structures are fabricated by replication technology in polymer and sol-gel materials. Electroforming, hot embossing and UV-embossing expertise and equipment is available for the replication work. Characterisation equipment includes mechanical profilometers, SEM, optical interferometers, wavefront measurement stations and access to AFM. The CSEM team has a long experience in this area and is strongly focussed towards practical technology and product development. It has participated in numerous European and Swiss projects with partners from industry.
